Spirits and Faith

Description

Once upon a time in my toba, there were spirits and supernatural things. We observed that a fire was burning there at night, but in the morning, when we went to see that [fire] place, we did not find any coal or burnt ashes. We were [thus] afraid when we saw the nightly fire burning and thereafter no trace of the fire and wondered about the reasons of this mystery. In our toba, we also used to hear many different voices, some worrying or sad, and sometimes they sounded like a wedding celebration. Sometimes we used to hear happy voices and at other times sad ones. Often, our animals in the toba got sick and sometimes they died [without apparent reason]. At some point some intelligent villagers told us that in our toba were spirits and therefore such misfortunes happened. One day, we therefore went to an aged wise person who asked us to do charity on the toba and to hold recitation of the Holy Qur'an [Quran khani], and Allah will send [His] mercy. After we arranged charity and did recitations of Quran on our toba, these strange things stopped happening. We never heard any voices at night, saw [mysteri-ous] fires burning, nor did we face any other trouble or distress.
