The Deer and the Hunter

Description

I will tell you the story of Toba Lakhun in Cholistan. Once upon a time, there was a renowned and very soft-hearted hunter (marjahi) who hunted wildlife for his livelihood. One day he was following a deer and reached it at a part of [Thar] desert where there was a pond. The hunter placed an arrow on his bow and pointed at the deer. As he did so, he saw the fear in the eyes of the animal. He felt as if the deer was saying: "Before killing me just think that my life is as precious as yours. I am an important part of the desert and if I die then the glamour of the desert will also be finished." The hunter reflected that if he now killed this wild animal, indeed the beauty of this desert would be lost. Thus he finally placed the arrow back, stopped hunting of wild animals, and started protecting wild animals.
