The Story of Horse and the Witches
Description
My name is Bibi Mariam and I am 70 years old. I had an uncle who [many years ago] was riding a horse to visit his sister in a neighbourhood. On his way, he encountered three women who asked him where he was going. He told them he was going to Eshkan to see his sister. They asked him again if he was going to stay there or come back, to which he replied that since he had a horse with him, he obviously planned to return. These three women were actually witches. That night, as he was returning from his sister's house, the horse suddenly stopped and refused to move forward. He got off the horse and looked into its ears, where he saw the three women he had met earlier - it is said that if a witch is around, she can be seen in the horse's ears. He then picked up stones and started throwing them at the witches. One of the witches got hit and ran towards the fields, and all of them eventually fled. After reaching home, he told the whole story to his family and advised them that if anyone came looking for him, they should say he had gone away and wasn't home. Consequently, he never encountered that witch again, and the witch eventually died. If he had met the witch he had hit with the stone, he would have died instead, but since he didn't meet her, the witch died.
