How Shigar, Nigar, Khasgar got their Names by a Mogul Prince
Description
On the way to K2 from Shigar, there was a place called Payo Nam. There, an old settlement existed where an elderly woman was roasting wheat grains over a fire. One day, a prince, returning from hunting, arrived from the direction of K2. Seeing the old woman cooking in such a manner, he was both curious and puzzled, as nothing like this was done in his own region. Exhausted from his journey, he fell asleep while watching her. The old woman, being very cunning, killed the prince in his sleep. Later, it was discovered that this prince was a Mongol prince. When he didn't return, his close relatives and three other princes came searching for him. Each of these three princes brought many people with them. Their names were Kaghar, Shaghar, and Naghar. These princes searched through different valleys. The prince who came to the Shigar side was called Shaghar, and he named this place Shigar after himself. The prince who went to the valley that is now known as Hunza-Nagar was called Naghar, and this area was named Nagar after him. The prince named Kaghar went towards China and settled in Kashgar, hence that place was named Kashgar after him.
